Highway 211 shut down after semi runs over Corvette near West End

Published on

Highway 211 has reopened after a serious crash Friday afternoon involving a semi truck and a Corvette between the two Highway 73 stoplights in West End.

According to investigators, the Corvette was traveling westbound when the driver lost control, crossed into the eastbound lane, and under the trailer of an oncoming semi. The back wheels of the truck ran over the hood of the Corvette.

The driver, an adult, and a 15-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Their current conditions have not been released.

Both directions of Highway 211 were shut down for several hours as emergency crews cleared the scene and troopers investigated what led to the crash.

Troopers say multiple citations for the driver of the Corvette are likely.
