Semi-truck overturns along U.S. 1 in Southern Pines

Published on

A semi-truck overturned along U.S. Highway 1 South in Southern Pines early Friday afternoon, causing traffic delays.

The incident happened around 12:45 p.m. between Midland Road and Pennsylvania Avenue. Moore County News was on the scene, where it appeared the truck may have blown a tire, lost control, and flipped onto its passenger side before sliding off the shoulder of the road. The truck came to rest just off the highway, but authorities closed the right lane of U.S. 1 South to investigate.

No injuries were reported, and the Southern Pines Police Department has not yet released an official cause of the crash.
