Truck catches fire in woods a mile off road in Jackson Springs

Published on

In a typical vehicle fire, it’s standard protocol to dispatch a fire engine to the scene. However, on Sunday afternoon, West End firefighters faced an unusual challenge when they had to resort to using a brush truck to extinguish a fully engulfed truck deep within the woods.

A narrow driveway led firefighters to the burning truck nearly a mile off of Jackson Springs Road.

Authorities say that the truck caught on fire as the vehicle’s owner was scouting property he owned. As he was out of the vehicle, the owner saw the truck on fire and called 911.

Luckily, West End firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading in the woods around the truck.
