Driver flees scene after crashing into tree

Authorities are investigating a crash involving a BMW that struck a tree on a sharp curve along Ring Road outside Vass on Saturday evening around 7 p.m.

Troopers say the driver was going too fast through the sharp curve, went off the opposite side of the road and hit a tree. The driver was not at the scene when firefighters arrived, according to authorities.

Several bottles of open alcohol containers in the BMW could be seen from outside the vehicle at the crash scene.
