Carthage crash sends mother and baby to hospital

Published on

A single-vehicle crash led to a mother and her baby being transported to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say around 4:15 p.m., a crash was reported on U.S. Highway 15-501 near Union Church Road in Carthage.

Firefighters arrived to a Honda CRV that hit a power pole in front of the Speedway gas station.

Carthage Police are investigating the crash, and say the mother was driving southbound on the highway and ran off the road to avoid colliding with another vehicle. The other vehicle was in the center lane attempting to turn into the gas station.

Moore County EMS evaluated the mother and baby that was traveling in the CRV, and determined as a precaution, they would be transported to the hospital.

Duke Energy was also at the scene to determine the extent of damage to the pole.
