An older man and his daughter were injured after crashing into a tree at the intersection of U.S. Highway 15-501 and Brinkley Road.

First responders were dispatched to the scene around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. UNC Carolina Air Care was initially put on stand-by after it was reported the man lost consciousness. Medics arrived and determined Air Care was not needed, and both the man and his daughter, who was driving the Honda Pilot at the time of the crash, were transported to the hospital by Moore County EMS.

Investigators say the female driver went off to the right side of the road, through the intersection, hit a stop sign, and then a tree.

There was significant damage to the front of the Honda. Firefighters from Carthage Fire & Rescue directed traffic through the intersection while the crash was investigated and cleared.
